The Armistice signed at 11.00 on 11th November 1918 marked the end of one of the saddest and most futile wars in history. Today it can be a reminder that we all desire to live in peace and freedom – to choose our way of life – to be free to practice our own beliefs in all things provided that they do no harm to others.
We remember all our brothers and sisters who over the years have died for their countries and for their beliefs. As we mourn their passing we also remember all of those from the European Union who are today playing their part in helping countries afar off to have the freedom we desire ourselves, and to defeat the imposition of the dogmas of the powerful.’
